Workshop on Ethiskill
The Department of Orthopaedics organised a Workshop on sutures, needles, instrumentation, skin suturing techniques, various surgical knots and tendon repair.
The workshop was conducted by Dr Darshan Kumar Jain, Consultant Hand Surgeon and Associate Professor of Orthopaedics MSRMC Bengaluru. The logistics including specimen, suture material etc, were provided by ETHICON, Johnson and Johnson, Bengaluru.
32 delegates including post graduates from orthopaedics and surgery and faculty members of surgery participated in the workshop. The delegates were divided into 8 batches and allotted separate tables, were provided with needles, suturing materials, suture practice models and porcine module for tendon repair. Dr Darshan Kumar Jain demonstrated every step of various sutures, knots and tendon suturing, which was televised on the big screen and the delegates followed the steps accordingly. In between the procedures were repeated on the demand of the delegates.
The hands-on workshop was conducted by the faculty members of the Dept. of Orthopaedics and Dr Jain went from table to table and attended to individual delegates’ queries and assisted them. The programme went on from 9 AM to 4PM and concluded with feedback analysis.
