Summary of the CME

A State Level Biochemistry CME on “Clinicians and Biochemists on a Single Platform” was conducted on 11th October 2017 by the Department of Biochemistry, AIMS.

The programme started with the functioning of 6 registration counters at 8.30am. Breakfast was served to both speakers and delegates.

The inauguration of the CME started at 9.30 am in Lecture Hall- 1 AIMS. Following were the dignitaries present on the dais for the inaugural function.

The function began by seeking the blessings of the almighty by the invocation song, sung by Ms. Anarghya Marpalli, I MBBS student.

Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Rajeshwari A, organizing secretary. The dignitaries on the dais were felicitated. Inauguration of the programme was done by watering the Tulsi plant by all the dignitaries and the biochemistry teaching faculty.

Dr. Venkatesha D, in charge principal, AIMS, addressed the gathering. Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Prof and Head, Dept. of Biochemistry, gave inputs about theme of the CME, this was followed by speech by Dr. T M Manohar, Medical Superintendent, AH&RC.

Finally the formal inauguration function was ended by the vote of thanks which was rendered by

Dr. Shilpashree Y D, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry.

Following the inauguration, scientific session started at 10.30 am.

Topic: – Key note address : “Missing link between a Biochemist and a Physician”

Speaker: – Dr. Medha. Y. Rao.

Principal & Dean,

This session was chaired by Dr. Shetty Shivakumar, Professor, Dept. of Medicine, AIMS, BG Nagara and Dr. Aliya Nusrath, Prof & Head, Dept. of Biochemistry, AIMS, BG Nagara. The session ended at 11.15 am following which there were interactions with the audience for 10 min. The speaker was presented with a memento and a certificate by the chair persons and the chair persons were given with a certificate and memento as a token of appreciation by Dr. Chikkanna D, Associate Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry.

Tea was served at 11.15 am

The speakers Dr. E. Mahesh, Dr Pramila Kalra, Dr. Sunil Kumar. B. M arrived for the CME and were welcomed.

The next scientific session started at 11.30am

Topic: – “Biochemistry certainly MINDs”

Speaker: – Dr. Vasudha. K.C

This session was chaired by Dr. A S Hegde , Professor & Head, Director of Institute of Neurosciences, Ramaiah Hospitals, Bangalore and Dr. Vasudev Naik H, Professor & HOD, Department of Medicine, AIMS, B.G. Nagara, The session ended at 12.30pm. For another 10 min the speaker replied to all the queries raised by the delegates. The speaker was presented with a memento and a certificate by the chair persons and the chair persons were given with a certificate and memento as a token of appreciation by Mr. Somashekar G N, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry.

The next session started at 12.30pm

Topic: – “Urinary Electrolytes – Interpretation and Clinical Application”

Dr. Narsimha Swamy K N, Professor & Head, Department of Physiology, AIMS, B G Nagara and Dr. M Shivakumar , Professor & Head, Dept. of Surgery , AIMS, BG Nagara , chaired the session. The session ended at 1.30 pm along with interactions with audience. The speaker was presented with a memento and a certificate by the chair persons and the chair persons were given with a certificate and memento as a token of appreciation by Dr. N Asha Rani, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry.

Delicious lunch was served at 1.30pm

Post lunch scientific sessions started at 2.30 pm.

Topic: – “Role of Biochemical Investigations in the diagnosis of Endocrinological Disorders”

The speaker was presented with a memento and a certificate by the chair persons and the chair persons were given with a certificate and memento as a token of appreciation by Dr. Shilpashree Y D, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Biochemistry.

The final session began at 3.30 pm.

Topic: – “Biochemistry in Paediatrics- Challenges and Opportunities”

Speaker: – Dr. Sunil Kumar. B .M

This session was chaired by Dr. Shivaprakash, Professor and Head Dept. of Paediatrics, AIMS, B.G Nagara and Dr. Vittal BG, Professor and Head, Department of Biochemistry, HIMS, Hassan. The session ended at 4.30 pm along with interactions with audience. The speaker was presented with a memento and a certificate by the chair persons and the chair persons were given with a certificate and memento as a token of appreciation by Dr. Namitha D, Assistant professor and Mrs. Rafiya Begum, Tutor, Dept. of Biochemistry, AIMS.

Finally Dr. T M Manohar sir and Dr. Venkatesha D, Incharge Principal were felicitated by Mr. Somashekar G N and Dr. Chikkanna D respectively.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Moderators.
