Student Seminar: Diabetes Mellitus  


Department organized Undergraduate Student Seminar on Diabetes Mellitus on 21st April 2016 between 09.15 am to 11.15 am at Lecture hall.

Ms. Aishwarya K M and Ms. Anushka Rajesh Agarwal were moderators.

The staff from preclinical departments and I MBBS students attended the seminar. The dignitaries on the dais were Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, Principal, AIMS, Dr. Rajendra, Prof and Head of Anatomy. Dr Aliya Nusrath, Prof and HOD, Dept. of Biochemistry and Dr. K Narsimhaswamy, Prof and HOD, Dept of Physiology, The program started by seeking the blessings of almighty with the invocation song by Ms. Akshaya V, I MBBS student.

Welcome address was rendered by Ms. Aishwarya K M , I MBBS student.

The seminar was  inaugurated by watering Tulsi plant by the dignitaries.

Dr Aliya Nusrath, Prof and HOD, Dept. of Biochemistry, gave brief introduction to the topic as well as she introduced the speakers of the seminar.

Dr. M. G. Shivaramu, Principal, AIMS, addressed the gathering, to encourage the students  and appreciated such scientific events.

Scientific session began on Diabetes Mellitus. Speakers for the day were.

  1. Sruthy Maria Sunny – Introduction to Diabetes Mellitus
  2. R Nandhini – Regulation of Blood Sugar
  3. Ruchitha Vinayak – Metabolic dearrangements in Diabetes Mellitus
  4. Mr. Rakshith S – Diagnostic aspects of Diabetes Mellitus
  5. Ms. Tanmaya S – Glucose  Tolerance Test and Gestational Mellitus.

All the five speakers gave excellent presentation and it was appreciated by all faculty members and students. This was followed by discussion between the speakers, faculty and students.

After scientific session, certificates  were distributed for the volunteers of “Jnana Vignana TantraJnana Mela”, and the seminar speakers. Following this Awards were distributed to excellent students in academic performance and attendance. Highest Attendance Awards went  to Ms. Arathi S Raj and Ms. Pournami S Raj who had 100% attendance in both Theory and practicals. The Best Academic Student Awardwas  bagged by                R.Nandhini. Ms. Srilakshmi N Rao  and Mr. Rumit N received  the Best overall performance Student Award in girl’s and boy’s category respectively.

The Programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Ms. Anushka Rajesh Agarwal.
