Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (A.I.M.S)
Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (A.I.M.S), B.G.Nagara-571448,Post graduate (PG) Orientation Programme for 2018-19 batch was organized by Medical Education Unit (MEU) on 22nd June, 2018 in Seminar Hall, A.I.M.S.
The program began at 9.00 AM with registration of PGs by Dr Amita K, MEU member. 59 PGs participated in the orientation programme. This was followed by Pre-test session on the programmes’ topics by Dr Abhishek M.G. , MEU member. Miss Bhargavi R II year MBBS student was the master of the ceremony.
The ice breaking (9.30 AM to 10.00 AM) was conducted by Dr Madhav K Savkar, MEU convenor and Dr Sudhir G.K., MEU co-convenor.
The scientific sessions started with the topic “PG Curriculum” (10 AM-10.30 AM) by Dr Madhav K Savkar. He provided an overview of various methods adopted to train PGs under MCI and Adichunchanagiri University (ACU). The session was followed by a tea-break.
The inaugural programme began at 10.30 AM with invocation by Miss. Anargya M, MBBS student. The welcome address was delivered by Principal, Dr M.G. Shivaramu. The programme was graced by the divine presence of Parampoojya jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji. The lighting of lamp was done by Parampoojya Swamiji, the guest of honour Dr Rajkumar Khatri, Principal Secretary, Department of Higher education, Govt. of Karnataka; Dr S Chandrashekar Shetty, Vice chancellor, ACU and Dr C.K. Subburaya, Registrar, ACU. The VC congratulated the first batch of PGs under ACU and explained their graded responsibilities as post graduates. Dr Khatri addressed the gathering and advised PGs to develop compassion and good attitude. Mahaswamiji blessed the students in his Ashirvachana and pursued them to utilize their stay in this divine environment. The inaugural program concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Vinay H.R., MEU member.
The scientific session continued with “Roles and Responsibilities” (11.45 AM-12.15 PM) by Dr M.G. Shivaramu, Principal. He explained the duties of residents with great emphasis on empathy and good communication skills.
The post-lunch session began with “Subject Seminar” (2.00 PM- 2.45 PM) by Tejaswi H.L., MEU member. He spoke on objectives of seminar, selection of seminar topic, preparation and presentation.
The last session was on “Journal Club” (2.45 PM – 3.30 PM) by Dr Aliya Nusrath, MEU member. She narrated the importance of journal club in updating the knowledge, types of journal articles and parts of research paper write-up.
The valedictory function (3.30 PM – 4.00PM) included post-test and distribution of certificates to the PGs.
