Orientation Workshop on Role of Board of Studies and Curriculum Planning for Chairpersons of Under Graduate Board of Studies of Adichunchanagiri University

The Medical Education Unit organized an Orientation Workshop on Role of Board of Studies in Curriculum Planning on 28th November 2018. Dr D K Srinivas, Former Dean, JIPMER, Pondicherry, Consultant, Curriculum Development, RGUHS, Bangalore was the resource person. The workshop was attended by 25 chairpersons/members of the Board of Studies, Adichunchanagiri University.

Objectives of the workshop:

  1. To sensitise chairpersons and members on role of board of studies

  2. To initiate “fine tune” regulations and curricula

  3. To facilitate preparation of documents of regulations and competency-based curriculum

The inauguration

Workshop was inaugurated and keynote address was delivered by Honourable Vice Chancellor of ACU, Prof. Dr. S Chandrashekar Shetty.

Synopsis:

The workshop began with a session on the “Role of BOS”. The participants were sensitised about curriculum and role of BOS members in curriculum planning was explained using the acronym “ABCDF”. Second session was on the “curriculum planning” with emphasis on professionalism. Concluding session of the day was on “defining learning outcomes/objectives”. The sessions were conducted with group activities, games, presentations and discussion. Evaluation was done at the end of each session and the end of the programme.
