Guest Lecture on Universal Health Coverage

A guest lecture on “Universal Health Coverage” was organised the department of Community Medicine on 25th May 2018 in lecture hall 1. Dr H S Prasad, Regional Consultant, Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka was invited as the resource person.

Dr M G Shivaramu, Principal, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences felicitated the speaker and spoke about the importance of need of UHC in addressing the rural as well as urban health care needs. Dr Somashekhar, Chief Medical Officer, Bellur CHC, Mr Shrinivasmurthy, senior health inspector from Taluk Hospital, Nagamangala, Mrs Bhagya, ASHA co-ordinator and other healthcare providers were in attendance.

In the morning session, the guest speaker Dr H S Prasad addressed the 6th term students and gave a brief insight into the various aspects related to Universal Health coverage, followed by the address to the field health workers (ASHAs, ANMs and other health workers). More than 120 students witnessed the event

The afternoon session witnessed the presence of teaching and nonteaching staff from our hospital; SAH&RC Medical Superintendent, Dr Manohar TM chaired the session.
